Spring is a time of great renewal and transformation. Typically, you may think of spring cleaning for your home, but you can also harness the energy of spring to cleanse your spirit. The transitional time between seasons is a perfect space for tweaking your lifestyle. Here's how you can harness the energy of spring:
1. Follow your cravings (within reason)
Spring is a good time to evaluate your diet. Have you noticed that you are craving more fruit and lighter foods? That's your body telling you what it needs. Honor those cravings and overhaul your pantry and fridge with lighter foods. Pack your plate with cooling vegetables like sprouts and greens. Top off your salad with nuts and seeds. Fill your fridge with citrus fruits and berries that are tart and sour - leaving the heavier foods like root vegetables and stews behind.
2. Get outside and get moving
Take advantage of the warmer weather and get outside and enjoy nature. Many of us naturally go into hibernation mode during the winter months by resting and recharging our bodies. Spring is the time to burn off that stagnant energy and get moving. Go for a walk in the park, ride your bike in the sunshine, and admire all the gifts spring has to offer,
3. Reset your Intentions
Check back in with those New Year's intentions you set. How are you stacking up? If you haven't made much progress, now is the perfect time to hit the reset button. Re-evaluate those intentions and if they still hold true, give yourself a pat on the back. Then, reinvigorate your daily routines to help you achieve your goals. If the intentions now feel flat or unproductive, don't fret, release them and craft some new ones.
4. Plant a seed
Spring means new growth for you and your surroundings. Go out into the community and make new friends, join a team, volunteer at your local animal shelter, or try Aerial Yoga with me. By getting out of your comfort zone, you can meet new challenges head on and limit anxiety and depression.
5. Release pent up emotions and beliefs
Carrying baggage of emotions and beliefs that aren't serving us limits our ability to step forward in our lives. Seasonal shifts are a perfect time to examine our emotional landscape and release what's pulling us backwards. Make a list of things that you want to stop doing and what you want to start doing to improve your daily life. Start up a meditation practice, get on your yoga mat or schedule a targeted healing session with me to get back on track.
